15 years for Filabusi rapist

A 31-year-old Filabusi man has been sentenced to 15 and a half years in prison for raping and assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

The incident occurred on November 25, 2024, when the accused approached the victim on her way to school, asked for directions, and then forcibly took her to a nearby bush where he committed the crime.

The victim was left unconscious after being struck three times on the back of her head with an unknown object. Fortunately, a passerby found her and took her home, leading to the authorities being notified and the victim receiving medical attention.

The Gwanda Regional Court handed down the sentence.
