Highlanders Trio Named in Warriors COSAFA Cup Squad

Three players from Highlanders Football Club have been included in the Warriors’ 23-man squad for the upcoming COSAFA Cup championships. The tournament is scheduled to take place from June 4 to 15, 2025, in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

Highlanders’ Captain Andrew Mbeba, along with young wingers Prince Ndlovu and Mafios Chihweta, received call-ups to the national team. Mbeba has also been named the captain for the national team in the tournament.

Warriors coach Michael Nees commented on the squad selection, stating that the COSAFA championship will provide a valuable platform for young players to gain competitive national team experience.

Meanwhile, The head coach for the tournament is Simon Marange, with Joel Luphahla serving as the assistant coach.

The squad features a blend of local and international talent across all departments. In the goalkeepers’ department there is Martin Mapisa, Joseph Kaunda and Tatenda Chikohwero. The defensive line includes Tashinga Mashonganyika, Allan Chapinduka, Simbarashe Takaedza, Andrew Mbeba, Arter Kaseke, and Kurainashe Musanhi.

The midfield boasts Prosper Padera, Menzi Mazwi, Vusa Ngwenya, Junior Makunike, Nisbert Muzenda, Prince Ndlovu, Kennedy Mupomba, and Calvin Chigara.

Leading the forward line are Tinotenda Meke, Mafios Chiweta, Tanaka Munemo, Thando Ngwenya, Tanaka Cherera, and Denzel Mapuwa.
