Written by on May 20, 2026

Government has raised concern over the growing number of unregistered rehabilitation centres operating outside approved regulations in Bulawayo.

Minister of State for Bulawayo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube, said illegal rehabilitation facilities pose risks to patients and undermine standardised care.

Speaking during a press conference on Monday, Minister Ncube said authorities will intensify inspections and monitoring to ensure compliance with national health and rehabilitation standards.

She revealed that 71 individuals were admitted for medical treatment and rehabilitation services during the first two weeks of May, while another 70 received psychosocial support and counselling.

Minister Ncube said Government remains concerned about the continued impact of drugs on communities and stressed the importance of coordinated action involving health institutions, law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders.
