The Ministry of Environment, Climate, and Wildlife, in partnership with the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), is working to reduce plastic waste in Zimbabwe.
Speaking at a recent workshop, Permanent Secretary Tadeous Chifamba said efforts to enhance plastic recycling are crucial due to the country’s limited recycling systems.
EMA Systems Protection Officer Steady Kangata emphasized the government’s commitment to tackling plastic pollution through community initiatives and policy changes.
Zimbabwe generates approximately 40,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually, most of which remains unrecycled, ultimately polluting water bodies and farmland.
