Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, is leading the Zimbabwean delegation attending the 78th Session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, which runs from 19 to 27 May 2025 under the theme “One World for Health.”
The assembly has brought together global health leaders to address pressing issues including pandemic preparedness, health financing, and global equity.
As the highest decision-making body of the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Health Assembly offers a platform for 194 member states to review global health priorities and forge agreements that shape the future of healthcare.
Dr. Mombeshora underscored the importance of finalizing the pandemic agreement, which has been under negotiation for more than three years.
Zimbabwe’s participation comes as the country intensifies efforts to build a resilient and inclusive health system—aiming to be better prepared for future health shocks while reinforcing its position in the global health architecture.
The assembly’s outcomes are expected to influence the future of global healthcare and promote collaborative efforts in tackling health challenges.
