Executive Committee of the SADC Parliamentary Forum Underway in Johannesburg, South Africa

The Executive Committee (EXCO) of the SADC Parliamentary Forum (SADC PF) convened yesterday in Johannesburg, South Africa, to evaluate its impact over the past two years and finalize preparations for the upcoming 56th Plenary Assembly Session, scheduled to be hosted by the National Assembly of Zambia from 8th to 15th December 2024.
Prominent regional leaders, including Hon. Advocate Jacob Mudenda, Speaker of Parliament, who arrived in Johannesburg on Friday, joined other distinguished participants. Among them were Hon. Roger Mancienne, Speaker of the National Assembly of Seychelles and President of the SADC PF, Hon. Angela Thokozile Didiza, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Africa, Rt. Hon. Nelly Mutti, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zambia, and Hon. Professor Peter Katjavivi, Speaker of the National Assembly of Namibia. The meeting spans two days, bringing together key parliamentary leaders to strengthen regional collaboration.
The SADC PF EXCO is mandated under Article 12(7) of the SADC PF Constitution to meet at least twice annually. Its primary responsibilities include managing the Forum’s affairs, providing strategic guidance to the Secretariat, and ensuring timely implementation of decisions taken by the Plenary Assembly.
