Education Expert Urges Parents to Monitor Children’s Performance During Holidays
Written by Staff Reporter on December 17, 2024
As the year-end holidays have begun, education expert Dr. Themba Nyoni is encouraging parents to use this opportunity to assess their children’s strengths and weaknesses in school. In a recent interview, Dr. Nyoni emphasized the importance of giving children space to discover themselves and identify areas where they may need additional support.
He also cautioned parents against sending their children for extra lessons without understanding the underlying reasons for their poor performance. Instead, he advised parents to assess their children’s challenges, whether it’s reading difficulties or learning disabilities, to provide targeted support.
Dr. Nyoni stressed that understanding why a child is struggling in school is crucial in providing the right kind of help. This knowledge enables parents to communicate effectively with extra lesson teachers, ensuring their child receives tailored support to address specific challenges.
