Cyclone Chido No Longer a Threat to Zimbabwe
Written by Staff Reporter on December 17, 2024
The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has confirmed that Cyclone Chido no longer poses a threat to the country.
The cyclone had caused widespread destruction over the past week as it swept through Mozambique and Malawi. Initial projections indicated that it might affect the northeastern parts of Zimbabwe.
However, ZimCast has reassured the public that Cyclone Chido has weakened significantly and will not be as destructive as anticipated. Despite this, heavy rains and hailstorms are expected across the country, starting today and lasting through the week.
The Meteorological Services Department estimates that rainfall totals will range between 30 and 50 mm nationwide. Citizens are urged to exercise caution, as localized hailstorms and heavy rainfall could lead to flooding in some areas.
