The CAF African Schools Championship is set to take place at Petra College in Bulawayo Province, running from Friday, 16 August to Saturday, 17 August, featuring a total of sixteen participating teams.
The tournament is specifically designed for Under-15 players, with eligibility restricted to those born on or after January 1, 2010. School associations are required to submit two teams per gender, consisting of a national select team and the champions of the 2024 National Championship.
The tournament will also serve as a platform for the development of aspiring match officials, with referee courses offered to 40 participants aged 15-20 years, providing a valuable opportunity for young referees to hone their skills.
Additionally, a Young Medical Officers Course will be held in parallel with the tournament, providing training for 20 students and 20 teachers. This course, expertly facilitated by the Red Cross, aims to equip participants with vital medical skills necessary for effective management of sports-related emergencies.
The championship will also serve as a crucial selection forum for the Zimbabwe National Under-15 teams, with the ultimate goal of identifying talented players to represent Zimbabwe at the COSAFA Zonal Phase in Namibia, taking place from September 5 to September 8, 2024.
