Bulawayo Polytechnic and University of Venda Inaugural Joint International Research Conference Kicks off in Victoria Falls

The inaugural Joint International Research Conference between Bulawayo Polytechnic and the University of Venda officially commenced in Victoria Falls today.
Running under the theme “The Role of Higher Education in Promoting Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Industrialisation,” the event marks a significant step forward in fostering collaboration between Zimbabwean and South African institutions of higher learning.
In her opening address, Bulawayo Polytechnic Principal, Mrs C Masanganise emphasized the importance of collaboration between institutions in addressing shared challenges.
The conference which has drawn prominent delegates, including academics, researchers and policymakers from both Zimbabwe and South Africa underscores the urgent need for higher education institutions to align their programs with national and regional economic goals, particularly in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship to drive industrialisation.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Venda, Professor Bernard Nthambeleni, echoed sentiments, stressing the importance of partnerships in advancing higher education.
By bringing together two leading institutions from Zimbabwe and South Africa, the conference has laid the groundwork for future collaborations that will benefit not only the participating institutions but also the broader Southern African region.
The Bulawayo Polytechnic and University of Venda Inaugural Joint International Research Conference is set to conclude tomorrow with the adoption of a joint declaration outlining key recommendations and a roadmap for future collaboration.
