Beitbridge Duo in Court Over Gruesome Murder
Written by Staff Reporter on May 16, 2025
Two men from Beitbridge, Quinton Sibanda (18) and Kamuelo Moyo (20), have appeared before the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court facing charges of rape and murder.
The court heard that on 9 May 2025, the two allegedly followed 21-year-old Marvelous Tlou, who was walking along a bushy path on her way to Whunga Business Centre for a church service. Posing as fellow churchgoers, they walked with her for about three kilometres.
It is alleged that Sibanda then produced an Okapi knife, threatened the victim, and robbed her of her cellphone. Moyo is accused of raping her while Sibanda held her down. Fearing arrest after the victim threatened to report them, the pair allegedly strangled and stabbed her to death.
The matter came to light after the two reportedly confided in an informant and revealed plans to flee to South Africa. A police report was made, leading to their arrest.
They were remanded in custody to 27 May 2025 and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.
