Delta Beverages has donated 10 hospital beds to Mpilo Central Hospital in Bulawayo as part of a nationwide healthcare support programme commemorating the 10th anniversary of Castle Lager Braai Day, reinforcing the company’s commitment to community development and improved public health services.
The handover ceremony, held at Mpilo Central Hospital on Tuesday, marks the fourth phase of a broader national initiative that will see similar donations made across all 10 provinces of Zimbabwe, with the programme aimed at strengthening patient care and easing pressure on public healthcare institutions.
Speaking during the official presentation, Delta Beverages Plant Manager, Tonderai Tshuma, said the donation fulfills a pledge made during the National Castle Lager Braai Day celebrations to give back meaningfully to communities through impactful social investment programmes.
Tshuma said the initiative reflects Delta Beverages’ commitment to supporting the healthcare sector, adding that additional hospital beds will be distributed to medical institutions across the country to improve patient comfort, healthcare delivery and overall service efficiency.
Receiving the donation, Acting Medical Officer at Mpilo Central Hospital, Professor Solwayo Ngwenya, expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that will contribute significantly to enhanced patient care and improved service delivery.
Professor Ngwenya said the donation aligns with Zimbabwe’s broader national development aspirations, including the attainment of Vision 2030, by strengthening healthcare infrastructure and improving the quality of services available to citizens.
The Castle Lager Braai Day initiative has increasingly evolved beyond celebrations into a platform for corporate social responsibility, with Delta Beverages using the anniversary milestone to roll out community-centred programmes designed to create lasting social impact across Zimbabwe.
