Zimbabwe Finishes Championships With 11 Medals

Teen swimmer Mykayla Makwabarara helped Zimbabwe conclude the 17th Africa Aquatics Championship in Algeria on a high note after winning gold in the junior women’s 50 metres freestyle on Saturday.

Makwabarara delivered an impressive performance to claim top spot, while fellow Zimbabwean Alexis Johnsen secured silver in the same event, completing a strong outing for the national team.

In the senior category, Anje Van As won silver in the 200 metres individual medley, while Paige Van der Westhuizen collected bronze in the same race.

Zimbabwe finished the continental championships with a total of 11 medals, three gold, five silver and three bronze, following a competitive campaign against some of Africa’s leading swimmers.
