The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a statement in response to allegations of theft of rations by senior officers. The allegations were published in a local daily newspaper, with the story titled “ZRP Bosses Steal Rations: Juniors.”
The ZRP says that Commissioner-General of Police is unaware of the allegations and is seeking to verify their authenticity. The police force has invited anyone with credible information to come forward and provide details directly to the Commissioner-General.
The ZRP has assured officers and the public that measures are in place to prevent abuse of the rations facility. The police force appreciates the government’s efforts to improve officers’ welfare and vows not to condone any abuse.
The ZRP has appealed to the media to be objective and responsible in their reporting on security issues, avoiding sensationalism that could cause unnecessary alarm.
