As the festive season draws near, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) in Victoria Falls is urging the community to actively cooperate in fighting crime. In an interview with Breeze FM, Assistant Inspector Brighton Chikutwe emphasized the importance of public participation in ensuring safety during the holidays.

“We anticipate a rise in criminal activities such as theft, robbery, and assault during the festive period. It’s crucial that we work together to maintain a safe and peaceful environment for everyone to enjoy,” said Assistant Inspector Chikutwe.

The police are particularly concerned about the theft of unregistered valuables, including bicycles, cell phones, and other personal items. They are urging the public to report any such crimes or suspicious activities immediately.

Assistant Inspector Chikutwe also appealed to those frequenting entertainment venues like bars, nightclubs, and restaurants to stay vigilant and report any unusual behavior or individuals to the authorities.

In addition to crime prevention, the ZRP is reminding motorists to adhere to traffic regulations to avoid accidents, as well as advising dog owners to ensure their pets are securely kept behind gates to prevent attacks. “If you are a victim of a dog bite, please report the incident to the police immediately,” he added.

The ZRP is committed to making this festive season safe and enjoyable for all, and calls on community members to partner with them in achieving this goal.
