Zimparks Issues Safety Reminder Following Tragic Incidents in National Parks

The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) has issued an important reminder to visitors about the necessity of adhering to rules and regulations within national parks, following several tragic incidents.

In a recent press statement, Zimparks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo reported that a 23-year-old man lost his life in a crocodile attack while illegally fishing at night in Gonarezhou National Park. Another man drowned after swimming in prohibited waters in Matopo.

Zimparks extended its condolences to the affected families and urged tourists to adhere to designated visiting hours, from 0600hrs to 1800hrs. Visitors are advised to familiarize themselves with local wildlife, comply with all guidelines, and report any unsafe activities or concerns immediately.

With the festive season approaching, Zimparks emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety when visiting national parks.
