Zimbabwe’s tobacco industry recorded an all-time high of US$1.3 billion in export earnings for 2024, marking the second consecutive year surpassing the US$1 billion milestone.
The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) reported that by December 27, 243.3 million kilograms of tobacco had been exported, generating US$1.39 billion. This reflects an increase from 2023, where 235.4 million kilograms brought in US$1.23 billion.
Zimbabwe’s flue-cured tobacco remains in high demand, especially in Far Eastern nations like China and South Korea, and the Middle East, due to its unique flavor profile.
