Zimbabwean Athletes Shine at Victoria Falls Marathon

Thousands of athletes from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, and several other countries gathered in Victoria Falls on Sunday, 5 July 2026, to compete in the annual Econet Victoria Falls Marathon.
The event featured runners of different ages and abilities competing in several race categories, including the 7.5-kilometre Fun Run, the 21.1-kilometre Half Marathon, and the 42.2-kilometre Full Marathon.
Zimbabwean athletes delivered outstanding performances throughout the competition. Tendai Zimuto emerged as the winner of the men’s 42.2-kilometre Full Marathon, while Godwin Katakura claimed first place in the men’s 21.1-kilometre Half Marathon, making Zimbabwe proud on home soil.
The marathon attracted thousands of participants and spectators, promoting health, fitness, tourism, and international friendship. The event also provided local and international runners with an opportunity to experience the scenic beauty of Victoria Falls while competing in one of Africa’s most popular road races.
The competition was successfully held under favourable weather conditions, with athletes displaying determination, endurance, and sportsmanship throughout the day.
