Zimbabwe’s diplomatic outreach took a significant step forward as Honourable Professor Amon Murwira, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, engaged in a series of courtesy calls with ambassadors from Portugal, Australia, and Japan, fostering deeper bilateral relations in trade and investment.

Minister Murwira met with His Excellency Mr. Rui Conclaves Monteiro, the Portuguese Ambassador to Zimbabwe. Their discussions focused on strengthening ties between the two countries, exploring new trade and investment opportunities across various sectors, and promoting cultural exchanges. Portuguese companies are expected to participate in the upcoming Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in Bulawayo later this month.

Earlier this week, Minister Murwira received His Excellency Ms. Minoli Perera, the Australian Ambassador to Zimbabwe. They discussed important areas of collaboration, including human capital development, environmental issues, climate change, and potential partnerships in the mining sector.

In another engagement, Minister Murwira also met with His Excellency Shinichi Yamanaka, the Japanese Ambassador to Zimbabwe. Their talks centred on strengthening bilateral relations through scientific and technical cooperation, and focused on two key events: the Osaka Expo and the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development, both designed to enhance Zimbabwe-Japan relations.
