Written by Staff Reporter on February 24, 2025
The Zimbabwe Fisheries and Aquaculture Department, under the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development, is set to conduct three public consultations on the Zimbabwe National Fisheries Bill in Bulawayo, Nyanga, and Kariba this coming month.
The consultations aim to gather input from various stakeholders in the fisheries sector, primarily farmers across the country, on the issues they want included in the bill.
According to Milton Makumbe, Director at Fisheries and Aquaculture Resources, the bill is designed to regulate the sector, promote growth and ensure quality services are provided to farmers.
Makumbe expressed hope that the Fisheries Agriculture Act Bill will address specific needs of Zimbabwe’s fisheries sector.
The department plans to share the proposal with farmers, fingerling producers, feed suppliers and other service providers, including plastics and fishing nets providers.
