Finance Minister, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion, Professor Mthuli Ncube, is attending the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa, which concludes today. While Zimbabwe is not a G20 member, it is representing the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as its current chair.
Prof. Ncube highlighted discussions on strengthening multilateral development banks, reforming global financial systems, and leveraging Africa’s energy minerals. He stressed the need for affordable, long-term funding and advocated for a blend of concessional and commercial capital to drive investment.
The G20, a key forum for international economic cooperation, brings together major economies. As SADC chair, Zimbabwe is ensuring regional financial priorities are heard on the global stage.
