The National Athletics Association of Zimbabwe (NAAZ) has officially sent off the men’s 4x400m relay team to represent the country at the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou, China, scheduled to begin this Saturday.

The team, made up of Leeford Zuze, Gerren Muwishi, Aldrin Mafa, and Dennis Hove, earned qualification after a commendable performance at the Lefika International Relays held in Francistown, Botswana, in March.

Their qualification marked a historic achievement for Zimbabwe, placing 28th on the World Athletics ranking list.

With eyes on reaching the finals and securing a spot at the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September, the team carries high hopes. NAAZ has expressed confidence in the athletes’ potential, having achieved this milestone after just a single qualifying race.

The relay event in Guangzhou offers a crucial opportunity for Zimbabwe to solidify its presence on the global athletics stage and make further strides toward Tokyo.
