Written by on January 24, 2025

Zimbabwe is set to benefit from a US$76 million investment aimed at enhancing agricultural research and capacity development to address climate change.

The funding, part of a new Africa-Australia partnership for climate-responsive agriculture, will support Zimbabwe and other African countries in combating food insecurity and building climate resilience.

The program, delivered by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), builds on years of collaboration in Zimbabwe. In agriculture, ACIAR is working alongside the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) to improve small-scale mechanization and climate resilience.

Meanwhile, ACIAR is also supporting the Pfumvudza/Intwasa program and the Virtual Irrigation Academy to enhance farming productivity and water management. Zimbabwe’s engagement with Australia also includes initiatives in disaster preparedness, water access, and sustainable livelihoods.
