Young Conservationists Emerge in Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe – A local conservation club is empowering young minds to become champions of wildlife conservation in Zimbabwe. The Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust Conservation, a non-governmental organization, is actively engaging primary school students in educational programs aimed at fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world.

The organization rescues and rehabilitates injured and orphaned animals at its high-care facility. Once recovered, these creatures are released back into their natural habitats.

Through eco-clubs in local schools, students have the unique opportunity to interact with wildlife, including elephants and vultures, gaining firsthand knowledge about conservation practices.
“By educating young people about conservation, we can inspire a new generation of conservationists,” said Mrs. Nancy Mutungwazi, the officer in charge of the Victoria Falls Wildlife Trust.

Tadiwa Kufa, a grade seven student from Mkhosana Adventist Primary School, shared her enthusiasm for the club: “I’ve learned so much about different animals, their habitats, and how we can protect them. It’s been an amazing experience!”

The conservation club is not only transforming young lives but also contributing to the preservation of Zimbabwe’s wildlife.

Mrs. Mutungwazi encourages community members to participate in conservation efforts, emphasizing the importance of reducing human-wildlife conflict.

Simple actions like avoiding littering, refraining from feeding wild animals, and reporting wildlife sightings or conflicts to authorities can significantly impact conservation efforts.
