Wife Sentenced to Prison After Stabbing Husband Over Food

A 45-year-old woman from Hwange has been sentenced to 12 months in prison following a violent altercation with her 56-year-old husband over a food-related disagreement.
The incident occurred on 29 September around 19:30hrs when the argument escalated to physical violence. The woman reportedly stabbed her husband in the left arm with a kitchen knife, before hitting him in the mouth with a plate and assaulting him with an enamel cup.
The victim sustained injuries across his body as a result of the assult.
Following her arrest, the woman appeared before the Hwange Magistrates court where she was charged under the domestic violence act. Six months of her sentence were suspended on the condition that she serves 210 hours of community service.
The NPA has since called on the public to resolve conflicts peacefully and to avoid resorting to violent means.
