Vice President Kembo Mohadi is in Lesotho to represent Zimbabwe at the country’s bicentennial celebrations, which are taking place today.
Accompanied by Acting Permanent Secretary Milton Ndou and other senior government officials, Mohadi is attending the event as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties between Zimbabwe and Lesotho.
The celebrations mark 200 years since the founding of the Basotho Kingdom by King Moshoeshoe I in 1824. The event also coincides with Lesotho’s Independence Day, observed annually on the 4th of October.
The occasion is set to highlight Lesotho’s resilience and progress despite its challenges. The festivities will showcase Basotho traditions through cultural performances, including dance and poetry, reflecting the nation’s heritage and identity.
Mohadi is attending the event in place of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who had other obligations.
