The Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe (VMCZ) will hold its 4th Media Awards in Social Accountability on November 4, 2024.
The awards recognize excellence in investigative journalism, particularly in areas related to HIV, sexual reproductive health rights, food security, and agriculture.
Caroline Kuhudzai, Program Officer for VMCZ, noted that the awards aim to promote high-quality investigative reporting and emphasize journalism’s role in holding authorities accountable.
This year’s awards will spotlight stories from Binga, a region in western Zimbabwe, highlighting critical social accountability issues. The event seeks to encourage journalists to pursue in-depth reporting on these topics, ultimately fostering greater transparency and accountability.
