The 32nd Session of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) has officially opened as part of the ongoing 58th Session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The session will review reports from State parties on their implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and address key issues related to disability rights.
Speaking at the opening, UN Human Rights Chief Andrea Ori commended the convention for advancing inclusivity and accessibility. He reaffirmed his office’s commitment to ensuring that the rights of persons with disabilities are upheld.
The CRPD plays a crucial role in monitoring the implementation of the convention, which seeks to promote, protect, and guarantee the full and equal enjoyment of human rights and fundamental freedoms for all persons with disabilities.
