The Gwanda Magistrates’ Court has handed down stiff sentences to two individuals convicted on charges related to dangerous drugs.

In the first case, 27-year-old Obvious Ngwenya from Bulawayo was sentenced to 10 years in prison for unlawfully dealing in dangerous drugs.

Ngwenya was intercepted at a roadblock along the Bulawayo–Beitbridge Road while attempting to transport 19.01 kilograms of dagga. The contraband was hidden in a parcel stashed in the boot of a taxi. Police officers on duty became suspicious and carried out a search, leading to the discovery.
