Trump Ambushes South African President in Oval Office with Claims of ‘White Persecution’

US President Donald Trump ambushed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Oval Office with video footage supporting discredited claims of white persecution in South Africa, according to the BBC.

In what was described as an extraordinary meeting, Trump played a video showing chants of “Kill the Boer, kill the farmer,” alleging white farmers are under attack and fleeing the country. Ramaphosa, visibly uncomfortable, responded that such chants do not reflect official government policy.

The encounter, at times tense and fiery, drew parallels with Trump’s previous high-pressure Oval Office meetings. Despite the unexpected confrontation, Ramaphosa remained composed, presenting Trump with a 14-kilogram golf book as a gift.

South African golfer Ernie Els, also present, weighed in, saying, “Two wrongs do not make a right.” Upon leaving, Ramaphosa told reporters the meeting went “very well.”
