Transport Ministry Updates on Nkayi, Bulawayo–Victoria Falls, and Old Gwanda Road Projects

The government, through the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development, has provided an update on ongoing road rehabilitation works across Matabeleland, focusing on the Bulawayo-Nkayi Road, the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road, and the Old Gwanda Road.

Speaking on the sidelines of a donation event at Gwanda Provincial Hospital by the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) and the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ), Deputy Minister of Transport Honourable Joshua Sacco confirmed that multiple contractors have been deployed on the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls Road, with five out of seven already on-site and initial works underway.

On the Nkayi–Bulawayo Road, Honourable Sarko said work has commenced, marking a significant step toward improving connectivity in the region.

He added that for the Old Gwanda Road, a concession agreement has been signed with the contractor, with mobilization to site expected soon.

He also announced that the Bulawayo–Beitbridge Road has been awarded to Bitumen World, with financial closure currently in progress to pave the way for construction to begin.
