Tragedy Strikes Brazil: 62 Lives Lost in Devastating Plane Crash

A catastrophic plane crash in Vinhedo, Brazil, has claimed the lives of 62 people, leaving the nation in mourning.
The tragic incident occurred on Friday, August 9, 2024, when a twin-engine turboprop operated by Voepass crashed in a residential area. The aircraft was en route from Cascavel to Sao Paulo with 57 passengers and four crew members on board.
Fortunately, no one on the ground was injured, although one home sustained damage. Recovery teams are working tirelessly to identify the victims and investigate the cause of the disaster. The flight recorders have been retrieved, which will aid in the investigation.
This heartbreaking incident marks the country’s worst plane crash since 2007. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Sao Paulo’s state Governor have expressed their deepest condolences and declared three days of mourning.
The Brazilian Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA) has launched an investigation into the accident.
