TikTok Restored in the U.S. Following Temporary Blackout

TikTok is back online in the United States after a temporary blackout on Saturday night caused by a new law. The legislation prohibits American companies from hosting or supporting the Chinese-owned platform unless it is sold to a buyer from the U.S. or one of its allies.
Speaking at the Historic Victory Rally on the eve of his inauguration, President-elect Donald Trump credited TikTok for helping him secure the youth vote by a 36-point margin.
In a statement on Truth Social, Trump announced his intention to sign an executive order following his inauguration today to extend the timeline before the law takes effect. This extension, he said, would allow time to create legislation aimed at safeguarding national security while ensuring TikTok’s operation in the U.S. Trump also proposed a joint venture with the U.S. holding a 50% stake in TikTok to address security concerns and preserve the platform.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for Trump’s swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States in Washington, D.C.
