South African Kings Reject Xenophobia, Call for Stronger Zimbabwe-Africa Unity

South Africa’s traditional leaders have firmly condemned xenophobic violence and pledged to strengthen relations with Zimbabwe and other African nations through dialogue, solidarity and peaceful coexistence.

Speaking during a visit to Zimbabwe, Chairperson of the South Africa Kings Council, King Ndamase Ndamase, said a delegation of kings travelled to the country after formally informing South African President Cyril Ramaphosa of their mission. The visit was aimed at expressing solidarity with Zimbabwe and reaffirming the traditional leaders’ opposition to attacks on foreign nationals.

King Ndamase stressed that xenophobic violence does not represent the position of South Africa’s recognised traditional leadership or the government, describing such incidents as the actions of a small minority rather than the will of the broader population.

The traditional leaders called for closer cooperation among African presidents, kings and community leaders to address migration-related challenges through constructive engagement and mutual understanding rather than violence.

They also underscored the importance of deepening African unity, strengthening people-to-people relations and promoting peaceful coexistence across the continent.

The visit sends a strong message of solidarity and reinforces calls for collective African solutions that uphold dignity, harmony and shared prosperity among the continent’s peoples.
