Regional Leaders Gather in Livingstone for 42nd Council of Ministers Meeting

The 42nd Council of Ministers (COM) Ordinary Meeting takes place today in Livingstone, Zambia, bringing together high-level officials from Zambia and Zimbabwe to address urgent regional issues.

Top of the agenda are discussions on the current water availability in the Kariba Reservoir for power generation, as well as projections for water availability through December 31, 2024. The meeting also covers updates on the development of the Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme, the Devils Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme, and the Floating Photovoltaic Project planned for Lake Kariba.

Key stakeholders from both Zambia and Zimbabwe, including ministers, permanent secretaries, and senior government officials, are attending to engage in discussions and receive updates on critical regional matters.

The outcomes of the meeting are expected to significantly impact energy security and sustainable development in the region.
