Rain Secures T20 Series Victory for Zimbabwe Over Ireland
Written by Staff Reporter on February 26, 2025
Persistent rain forced the abandonment of the third T20I between Zimbabwe and Ireland, handing the Chevrons a 1-0 series victory, their first since defeating Ireland in 2023.
Ireland won the toss and elected to bowl after a delayed start. Craig Young struck early, removing Tadiwanashe Marumani, and Matthew Humphreys dismissed Wessly Madhevere, leaving Zimbabwe reeling at 18 for 2. Captain Sikandar Raza led a counterattack, scoring a quickfire 34 before falling to Gareth Delany.
Tony Munyonga and Tashinga Musekiwa contributed valuable runs, pushing Zimbabwe to 142 for 6 in 18 overs before rain halted play.
Despite efforts to resume play, the rain persisted, and the match was officially abandoned at 9 pm.
Speaking on his side’s perfomance in the series this is what Zimbabwe T20 captain Sikandar Raza had to say.
