The permanent secretary of the ministry of information publicity and broadcasting services Mr Nick Mangwana highlighted President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s remarkable journey to becoming the Chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Mangwana emphasized that President Mnangagwa’s leadership role was not merely a sudden appointment, but a culmination of his significant contributions to Zimbabwe’s and Southern Africa’s history.

Mangwana referenced a narration by former South African President Thabo Mbeki, who shared his personal experiences with President Mnangagwa during the Zimbabwean liberation struggle. Mbeki recounted their time together in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and their collaborative efforts to bring independence to the nation.

Mbeki’s testimony underscores the deep respect SADC leaders have for President Mnangagwa, earned through decades of working together towards regional stability and development. This rich history has laid the foundation for President Mnangagwa’s esteemed leadership position within SADC.
