President Mnangagwa Takes Helm at SADC, Vows to Boost Regional Economy

In a ceremonial transfer of power at Mt. Hampden, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa assumed the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) from Angolan President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco.

President Mnangagwa laid out his vision for a modernized economy, emphasizing collaboration and collective progress. He prioritized major projects, particularly in energy, to drive economic growth and regional integration.

President Mnangagwa further pledged to champion economic development, peace and security, social and human development, environmental protection, and international relations.
