President Emmerson Mnangagwa officially opened ZimTrade’s annual Export Week yesterday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in Bulawayo. Held under the theme ”Qala, Tanga, Start”, the event aims to foster dialogue between the business community and policymakers on key issues in the export industry.
This premier platform connects international buyers with local producers, enhancing Zimbabwe’s access to global markets.
In his remarks, President Mnangagwa expressed confidence that the discussions during the event would help stakeholders refine strategies for promoting national brands, addressing logistical hurdles, and exploring trade finance solutions for exporters.
The event has drawn over 250 participants, including buyers from countries such as the United Kingdom, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa. These international delegates are already participating in sector-specific engagements, including factory visits and business-to-business meetings.
ZimTrade CEO, Mr. A. Majuru, underscored the importance of facilitating direct connections between buyers and sellers, noting the participation of buyers from seven countries as crucial to expanding Zimbabwe’s global market presence.
