President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa met with 39 students awarded scholarships under the ED-UNZA Scholarship Trust yesterday evening. Of these, 21 are set to begin studies in the February and August 2025 intakes, while the rest are already pursuing their programmes.

The students will undertake various degree programmes, including medicine, law, and electronic engineering.

President Mnangagwa underscored the importance of embracing emerging legal fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Accountability Law, Space Law, Fin-Tech and Crypto Regulation, and Environmental Law. He stressed the need for Zimbabwe’s legal fraternity to stay future-ready.

The ED-UNZA Scholarship Trust, established by President Mnangagwa in 2019, supports academically talented but underprivileged students. To date, 77 students are benefiting from the programme, which covers both tuition and boarding fees. The trust has raised over US$1.5 million and ZWL$19 million to assist disadvantaged learners.

President Mnangagwa, a former beneficiary of Zambian education, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting both Zimbabwean and Zambian students.
