President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has called for the return of the remains of Zimbabwean heroes captured and killed in Britain, demanding that they be brought home for proper burial.
Speaking at the National Heroes Acre in Harare during the burial of national hero Cde Jaison William Chirinda, President Mnangagwa emphasized that the spirits of the fallen heroes would remain restless until their remains are repatriated.
In his address, he highlighted figures like Chief Chiwashira, Chief Shingaira, Chief Mapondeta, and Chief Mashayamombe, who were captured and killed in Britain during the liberation struggle.
Their remains, held in British museums as colonial artifacts, stand as symbols of a painful past. President Mnangagwa urged Britain to release these remains so the heroes may finally receive a dignified burial on their native soil.
