OPC Urges Media to Uphold Accuracy and Neutrality

The Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) has called on media practitioners to uphold accuracy and neutrality in their reporting following NewsDay’s front-page story, “Churches Trash ED2030 Plan.”
In a statement, the OPC criticized the article as misleading and inciteful, arguing that it distorts a statement from the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD). The ZHOCD statement, according to the OPC, acknowledges and accurately reflects President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s stance on Presidential term limits, contrary to the claims in the article.
The OPC reminded the media of its constitutional responsibility to provide balanced platforms for public discourse and adhere to Section 61, which protects free expression but does not condone falsehoods or malicious misrepresentation.
