Minister of Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, Jenfan Muswere, has affirmed the legality of the proposal to extend President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s term, emphasizing its alignment with Zimbabwe’s Constitution.
In a statement, Muswere explained that the motion will follow constitutional processes and is not solely driven by ZANU PF but reflects cross-party support from parliamentarians representing diverse political affiliations. According to Muswere, the proposal demonstrates the will of voters who backed the president, regardless of political differences.
He further stated that Zimbabwe, as a God-fearing nation that safeguards freedom of worship, will not be influenced by Western organizations aiming to create discord between the government and the church. Muswere reiterated that the country’s decisions remain guided by its sovereignty and the interests of its people.
