The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development is encouraging farmers to adopt integrated pest management (IPM) techniques to safeguard crops and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Professor Obert Jiri, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, explained that the integrated approach combines biological, chemical, and traditional methods to manage pests more effectively.
Professor Jiri also reassured Zimbabweans that sufficient pesticides are in stock, urging farmers to take proactive steps to protect their crops.
In light of climate change and the growing threat of invasive pests, the adoption of IPM underscores the need for effective and sustainable pest management strategies.
