Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe – In a powerful demonstration of its commitment to inclusion, the Ministry of Justice and parliamentary affairs is taking center stage at the ongoing National Disability Expo in Victoria Falls, showcasing groundbreaking efforts to make essential legal services and the Constitution accessible to all citizens, particularly those with disabilities.

The Ministry’s exhibition is a hub for empowerment, featuring vital legal resources presented in multiple accessible formats. This includes Braille versions of legal documents and the Constitution itself, alongside sign language interpretation services and accessible digital materials. The initiative directly tackles barriers faced by individuals with disabilities in understanding and exercising their fundamental rights.

“This expo participation is a significant stride towards our core mission: ensuring justice and representation are truly for everyone,” stated a Ministry representative at the event. “By providing legal resources in Braille, sign language, and other accessible formats, we empower individuals with disabilities with the knowledge of their rights and foster a deeper societal understanding of inclusion.”

The Ministry’s presence underscores its dedication to building a more equitable society where legal protections are not hindered by disability. Attendees at the expo are encouraged to visit the Ministry of Justice and parliamentary affairs desk at Chinotimba Stadium to engage directly with legal experts, ask questions about their rights, and access information about available services.

Call to Action from Legal Officers

Reinforcing this message, legal officers from the Ministry spoke passionately during an interview on Breeze FM radio. They urged the public, especially persons with disabilities and their advocates, to visit the Ministry’s exhibition stand.

“We are here to serve. Come to Chinotimba Stadium, interact with our team, learn about your rights, and access the legal support available,” Tendai Chohdzo emphasized during the broadcast. “Our commitment is clear: we are leaving no one behind and no place behind. Accessibility to justice is non-negotiable.

The Ministry’s participation in the National Disability Expo goes beyond mere representation. It actively positions accessible legal services as a critical catalyst for advocacy and the full inclusion of persons with disabilities in Zimbabwean society. Their work at the expo is a tangible step towards dismantling barriers and ensuring the Constitution’s promise is a reality for every citizen.
