Zimbabwe’s Minister of Energy and Power Development, Honourable July Moyo, delivered a compelling presentation on the country’s National Energy Efficiency Policy during the International Renewable Energy Conference & Expo 2025, currently underway at Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls.
Addressing delegates from across the region and beyond, Minister Moyo outlined the government’s strategic focus on energy efficiency as a cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s broader energy transition agenda. His presentation offered valuable insights into how the country plans to reduce energy intensity, optimize resource usage, and promote sustainable growth through smarter energy systems.
“Energy efficiency is no longer an option—it is a necessity,” said Honourable Moyo. “It is one of the most cost-effective ways to expand energy access, reduce emissions, and support economic productivity across all sectors.”
The National Energy Efficiency Policy, launched as part of Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 and guided by regional and international commitments, seeks to, promote the adoption of energy-saving technologies, encourage behavioural change in energy consumption, strengthen regulatory frameworks, and enhance public-private partnerships for sustainable development.
Minister Moyo emphasized that efficient use of energy will ease the burden on Zimbabwe’s power infrastructure while helping the nation meet its climate goals. He also noted that the policy provides incentives for industries, households, and institutions to invest in energy-saving equipment and practices.
Delegates commended the Minister’s address for its clarity and forward-thinking approach. The presentation was seen as a crucial step in mobilizing both investment and awareness around the importance of energy efficiency in unlocking the country’s full renewable potential.
The 2025 International Renewable Energy Conference & Expo continues to serve as a vital platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in driving Africa’s sustainable energy future.
