Manchester City have agreed to sell Argentine forward Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid for a fee that could rise to €95m, making him the club’s record sale.
The 24-year-old, who joined City from River Plate for £14m just two seasons ago, is expected to sign personal terms with the Spanish club imminently.
The transfer fee, comprising an initial €75m plus €20m in add-ons, could potentially amount to £82m, representing a significant profit for City.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Alvarez scored 36 goals in 103 appearances, winning six trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
Julian Alvarez will join fellow new signing Alexander Sorloth as the club’s second striker addition this summer.
The transfer is subject to Alvarez agreeing personal terms and completing a medical assessment, but the deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
