The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Zimbabwe today joins the global community in celebrating the contributions of millions of migrants on United Nations International Migrants Day.
In a post on X, IOM Zimbabwe acknowledged the resilience of migrants who strive for better lives for their families, often fleeing difficult circumstances. The organization highlighted the invaluable skills, expertise, and fresh perspectives migrants bring to host countries, which contribute to economic growth and social development.
To fully harness the benefits of migration, IOM Zimbabwe emphasized the importance of creating accessible pathways for integration and fostering inclusive communities that leverage migration as a driver of positive change.
International Migrants Day, observed annually on December 18, marks the anniversary of the 1990 adoption of the United Nations International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
