Cyclone Chido wreaks havoc in Northern Mozambique

Cyclone Chido has claimed the lives of at least 34 Mozambicans, with 28 fatalities reported in Cabo Delgado since Sunday, and six additional deaths reported in Nampula Province and Niassa.
The Mozambique National Risk and Disaster Management has reported that nearly 23,600 homes have been destroyed, more than 300 people have been injured, and over 175,000 people have been affected by the storm.
The rescue crew is working in the heavily damaged areas, and the World Health Organization has experts on the ground in Nampula and Cabo Delgado to support authorities in conducting a health assessment to identify and address immediate needs.
The Meteorological Services Department of Zimbabwe has updated its forecast, indicating that the Matebeleland provinces, Bulawayo Metropolitan Province and Midlands Province will experience morning rain, followed by cloudy and warm conditions with scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon, and overnight showers.
