The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has received more than US$5.2 million from Treasury to clear outstanding payments owed to farmers for wheat and summer cereal deliveries, in a move aimed at strengthening food security and supporting agricultural production in Zimbabwe.

In a statement, GMB said the funding includes US$4.31 million to settle wheat delivery obligations and a further US$944 000 for current summer cereal deliveries made from April 2026, bringing the total disbursement to US$5.254 million.

The Board said the financial support comes as a major relief to farmers and reflects Government’s continued commitment to the agricultural sector, which remains central to Zimbabwe’s economy and national food security drive.

GMB also commended the Minister of Agriculture, Mechanisation and Water Resources Development, Anxious Masuka, for efforts in securing Treasury support for farmers.

The Board encouraged farmers who benefited under the Presidential Inputs Programme, those contracted by ARDA, and farmers operating under ARDA-managed irrigation schemes to continue delivering grain to GMB depots and buying points across the country.

According to the Board, farmers can deliver grain through its network of 89 depots and 1 804 ward-level buying points established nationwide.

GMB added that going forward, it expects to pay farmers within 30 days of grain delivery as part of efforts to improve efficiency and strengthen confidence among producers.
